The Reading Habits Tag

Sticking with my book theme, I decided I would do this tag after being tagged by my blogging buddy Maisie πŸ˜‰ I’m quite a nosy person so enjoy reading tags like this so I hope you enjoy mine!

1. Do you have a certain place for reading at home?
My bedroom is where I’m comfiest, but sofas are good too.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?
If I’m reading in my bedroom I usually have a bookmark nearby but if I’m out I don’t have a problem using a bit of paper.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or number of pages?
I literally cannot put down a book in the middle of chapter, I have such an awful memory I would get confused if I didn’t finish in a clear place!

4. Do you eat or drink when reading?
Of course! There isn’t much that can beat a cup of tea whilst reading ☺️

5. Do you watch TV or listen to music whilst reading?
Absolutely not! I should be a man, I can’t multitask at all, my brain can only focus on one thing at a time.

6. One book at a time or several at once?
One at a time, I need closure on one book before thinking about opening another one.

7. Reading at home or everywhere?
Anywhere will do, usually I get travel sick if I try to read on a journey but it has been known for me to ignore that and read on.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?
In my head, i can’t concentrate as much if I’m saying the words aloud?

9. Do you ever read ahead or skip pages?
In a boring book who doesn’t skip ahead a little to a more interesting part?

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it new?
I like to keep the spine in tact which can be tricky business!

11. Do you write in your books?
No! Never!

12. What are you currently reading?
I am about to embark upon a journey through ‘Life of Pi’ for English Literature.

I would like to see Lauren give this tag a go and anyone who wants to!

‘Across the Universe’

Hope you’re good! This post is going to be another book review as I enjoyed writing the last one 😊 After having been recommended ‘Across the Universe’ by Beth Revis I decided to try it out on holiday.

I was slightly skeptical about it at first, despite its good reviews because it’s science fiction which isn’t really my first choice of genre. However, it is a page turner!
I’m the type of person that will not put a book down once I get into it so it’s lucky I had a 9 hour plane journey to read through πŸ‘Œ

The book is split into two points of view which I normally don’t like, but I think Beth Revis did a great job and it worked with the story brilliantly.
It is set in the future when society on Earth is chaotic, so when scientists find another habitable planet they build a ship that will carry necessary individuals to build a civilisation there. The story follows Amy, a girl from Earth who along with her parents is frozen for 300 years so that they will be the same age when the spaceship they will be put on lands on the new planet. However, Amy is woken up 50 years early and finds herself in a strange society made of people born on the ship over generations. It is here she encounters Elder, the future leader of the ship. Together they have to solve various puzzles and murders in order to save the ship and land on the new planet.

The images of the book covers were taken from Google as I don’t have a hard copy to take a photo of, but I think I may have to invest in a hard copy because as great as kindles are, who wouldn’t rather have the book?

I hope that you’ll be intrigued enough by this post to go and read them because they really are fantastic 😊 All I will say is make sure you have time, because you won’t be able to put them down once you start!

Disney World! The Magic Kingdom :)

I have just arrived back on British soil after my holiday of a lifetime to Florida πŸ˜€ I cannot even tell you how excited I have been in the lead up to it! I thought that, as I’m too lazy to keep a diary, a good way to document my trip would be to write a few blog posts on it.

If you’re planning on visiting, hopefully these little posts will give you a glimpse into some of the amazing things to do there!
Below are some photos I took of the ‘Festival of Fantasy Parade’ and the Castle show. Being a huge fan of Disney I enjoyed this probably a little too much πŸ˜‰

‘You’re the one that I want’

I haven’t attempted a post like this before but I hope the readers among you will enjoy it! Another thing I can blame on exams is that I haven’t been able to read as much lately. This means my ‘to read’ list has gotten pretty long…

I decided that the first book I’d like to read this summer would be ‘You’re the one that I want’ by Giovanna Fletcher. This is only Gi’s second book and after reading her first (Billy and me), I knew I wanted to see how her style of writing progressed.

I will hold my hands up and say that I do judge books by their covers, not all the time but I do! The covers of Gi’s books are so lovely and look great on the bookshelf!

I was always going to buy her books because I love her as a person but I do believe they are good to read.

Whereas ‘Billy and me’ was quite a light, easy read about a love story unfolding between a normal girl and an actor, I think that ‘You’re the one that I want’ is more emotional. It’s still very much a chick lit but I found myself feeling much more attached to the characters and shedding more than a few tears! The story follows the lives of three best friends and focuses on friendship and sadly, unrequited love 😦

If you’re at a loss of things to read this summer I would recommend giving these a go if you like traditional chick lit or fancy a break from reading something heavy πŸ™‚

Over the last few months I have had some amazing things to look forward to. My birthday, friends birthdays, prom and Mcbusted!

I thought about what I could write about and in the end, it had to be Mcbusted. Being a massive fan of both Mcfly and Busted I knew the tour wasn’t something I could miss! I knew a few friends wouldn’t want to miss it either so when the tickets went on sale Maisie, Hebe, Maddie, Amber and me kept our fingers and toes crossed whilst we waited to hear if we got them.
I was in a science class when I found out we got them, best science class ever πŸ˜‰

We went to the Birmingham LG Arena on the 3rd of May and it really was one of the best nights ever. It’s been over a month since we went and I still wish I could go back to that night!

Excuse the very unflattering lighting, above is a photo of us before the concert began and below is before we went into the actual arena. There was this photographer for Free radio so we had our photo taken ☺️

Although we were sat pretty far away, my camera was able to zoom in far enough to get some amazing shots!

The atmosphere was amazing and of course the band was perfect! I wish I could have gotten tickets to more of the dates but I have no money so there was a flaw in that plan…

Thank you boys for an amazing night and thank you to the girls who made it so special!

I hope it isn’t too long before I see them live again!

A note to say…

Hello everyone,

Remember me? I have to sincerely apologise for my recent absence but we can all blame GCSEs because literally all my time has been used revising 😫

Fortunately, I now have begun my longest summer holiday ever! Weeks after weeks of chilling with no stress? Yes please!

So this is just a little note to say sorry but hopefully I can post some more now it’s all over with ☺️

Happy Saint Patricks!πŸ€

Happy Saint Paddies day! Unless you’re Irish, you may not even be aware of the fact that it is St Patricks day. I’m actually English but my mum is Irish so we still celebrate. Unfortunately, unlike my cousins I don’t get a day off school, I think we should make Saint George’s day a bank holiday?

Anyway, I painted my nails for today and thought I’d share them with you whilst wishing you a good day!

Just a short post today. Today I tried out a different mascara which was unusual for me as I tend to stick to my trusty L’Oreal mascara but it is a bit on the pricey side so I decided to try out a cheaper one. So many people seem to like the Rimmel Scandal’Eyes mascara’s, so I decided to try one out.

I chose to try the Rimmel Scandal’Eyes Show Off and I really, really like it. Whereas my L’Oreal mascara is bold, the Rimmel mascara is soft and perfect for a more natural, slightly under stated look.

I think I’ll wear this mascara to school as I don’t wear as much makeup whilst I’m there. This is good as it is a lot cheaper than L’Oreal, Β£6.99 from boots.

Sorry for the short post, I haven’t had much time today πŸ™‚

When I opened the curtains today I couldn’t help but smile as the weather was so lovely. I’m eagerly awaiting summer and so i delved straight into my summer clothes.
